The issue of migration and illegal immigration took center stage at a panel discussion on “Understanding The Complexities of Migration Management ” during day four of Diplomatic Week held at the Grand Lucayan Resort in Freeport, Grand Bahama.  Immigration Minister the Hon. Sears (centre) served as a panelist for the discussion, along with Her Excellency Gezel Farrington, Ambassador-at-Large for Human Rights (photographed at left) and Ms. Zahrah Jibrilu, Project Officer, International Organization for Migration (photographed at right).  Other panelists included His Excellency Dennis Zulu, UN Resident Coordinator for The Bahamas, Bermuda, Cayman Islands, Turks & Caicos and Jamaica; His Excellency Dr. Ellison Rahming, Ambassador to the Republic of Cuba; and Mr. Crispin Hall, of the United Nations High Commission for Refugees (UNHCR).

Immigration Officer Charged with Fraud

Immigration officer Edwin Morley was charged in the Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday for conspiracy to commit fraud and fraud by false pretences.  Morley, 31, of Pinewood Gardens was arraigned along with 48-year-old Clive Schroeter of Lady Slipper Avenue.
