R. Kelly Concert Official- First Bahamas Concert Appearance

Grammy award winning singer, songwriter and R Kelly is coming to town.

Over the past few weeks the island was abuzz with talks speculating whether or not the musical genius would actually be coming to The Bahamas to host his first concert, on Wednesday the organisers of the Celebration of Love event, Fresh Entertainment, at a press conference officially confirmed the rumors that the “Step In The Name Of Love” crooner will make his first concert appearance in The Bahamas.

The event will be a post Valentine’s Day concert set to be held on February 23.

PJ Douglas Sands of the DS3 Group and Kasimu Ellis of Fresh Entertainment said it’s no secret that Bahamians are tired of the “same old predictable concert experience” and noted that this event is seeking to keep it fresh and exciting with a brand new face, venue and a fresh experience.

“Like we said here at Fresh Entertainment we try to keep it fresh,” Mr. Ellis said. “We want to give people the experience of giving them a concert that would be on par with anything in the world, anywhere else in the world.

“We will be transforming this whole tent.”

“As we say we’re keeping it fresh,” Mrs. Sands added “This is about a new concert experience and doing things that other people have not done before.

“With all of these businesses combined we wanted to make sure that we were reaching out to the U.S. and tourists and give them the opportunity to come to the concert.”

The event will be held at the Seaside Pavillion at Arawak Cay and event promoters said the event will be an intimate musical journey with R. Kelly adding that the tent at Arawak Cay will be transformed into an unforgettable, upscale oasis.

The organisers said not only is the event seeking to give Bahamians a new kind of concert by bringing a brand new face, they said the event which is being marketed throughout Florida and Atlanta will be big for tourism.

“Two weeks ago we did a survey with the hotels as it relates to the occupancy levels for February 23, which were pretty low,” President of C-3 Seating Crispin Cleare said. “We checked in with them on Monday and the occupancy levels are climbing for that particular weekend.

“We got confirmation that there would be a cruise ship in port for February 23 and they have 300 passengers on that ship who will be booking tickets for the event.”

The event will also feature up and coming musician Darnaa as well as a number of Bahamian talent.
