LPIA Partners With MOT For “Off the Rock” Promotion

Next time you’re traveling through the Lynden Pindling International Airport (LPIA), you might notice some colourful and musical surprises.

That’s because The Ministry of Tourism has partnered with officials at the Lynden Pindling International Airport (LPIA) to create an “Off The Rock” promotion that’s meant to engage travelers in a one-of-a-kind Bahamian experience.

Vice President of Marketing and Communications at LPIA Jan Knowles says the promotion began in the Domestic Lounge of the airport, but will quickly spread to the US Departure terminal as well.

“What we are really trying to do is promote domestic travel at LPIA and get people going to the Family Islands. This is the summer season. There’s a lot going on like island regattas or homecomings and we want you to come to LPIA to have a fun start,” she said.

“It creates that kind of experience for the traveler that I don’t think they can get in any other airport in the world.”

Ms. Knowles said this is the second year that LPIA has launched a summer promotion.

However, she noted that these types of promotions are not limited to summer.

“When we moved into the holiday season we also had wonderful Christmas entertainment at the airport in partnership in the Ministry of Tourism, Atlantis Paradise Island and Nassau Paradise Island Promotion Board,” Ms. Knowles said.

“We just had an Easter promotion and now we are at summer. So around the Thanksgiving holiday and the Christmas holidays we will have another promotion. When you get off a plane and you hear music and then you are greeted by some of the friendliest people in the world – that really kicks off your vacation and gives you a fantastic experience.”
