Vote No Team Seeks Volunteers

The “Vote No” movement has gotten into full swing and is asking the public to assist in their battle to prevent the regularising of web shops and a national lottery in The Bahamas.

Media and Public Relations Coordinator for Save Our Bahamas Minister Kevin Harris said there is an ongoing process of recruitment in the “Vote No” camp as they are attempting to get all hands on deck in the referendum battle.

“If any persons are interested in getting involved there are a number of things that you can do, and all are welcomed to assist. We have door to door, poll workers and a list of other things that people can do to assist,” he said.

“We have a very exciting street team that has already been out and connecting with different residents. They are on the streets distributing material really getting the word out there that this legalisation of gambling is not wanted in our country,” he added.

Minister Harris, who is a member of Grace Community Church, said that while they are still in need of more volunteers, it’s good to see the amount of people that have gotten the courage to fight for what they think is right.

“We want to thank all of the persons who have already signed up to be a part of what is an ever increasing list of enormous support in our community both here in New Providence and on the Family Islands,” he said.

“This is a great and exciting movement and we’re just urging all persons in support of our cause to come out and support.

This is something that will affect us now and in the long term.”

At a town meeting Friday night, President of the Bahamas Christian Council Reverend Ranford Patterson also urged persons to get involved in the campaign.
