Two separate incidents occurred just moments apart in the country’s capital on Tuesday night that left two men dead pushing the murder count to 41 for the year.
In the first incident, shortly after 9:30 p.m., police received reports of a 24-year-old man sitting in the driver’s seat of his 1997 Honda Prelude suffering from gunshot injuries to the body on Graham Drive in the Yellow Elder Gardens area.
Chief Superintendent of Police Paul Rolle told The Bahama Journal that “EMS was summoned to the scene where they examined the individual and reported finding no signs of life.”
“Our preliminary information is that this man was sitting in his vehicle when he was accosted by atheist, one man who discharged shots into his vehicle hitting him and fatally wounding him,” he added.
Before Superintendent Rolle and his team of officers were able to fully investigate that incident, they received another report of a 44-year-old man believed to be stabbed to death by his 15-year-old nephew at a home in Nassau Village around 10 p.m.
Superintendent Rolle said the juvenile suspect was taken into police custody for further questioning.
“Two relatives became involved in an argument and the younger who we believe is a juvenile took a knife and stabbed his uncle to the chest, fatally wounding him,” he said.
“The juvenile was taken into custody and we will be speaking to him trying to get some help to try to advance this incident that took place in Nassau Village tonight.”
Tuesday’s murders come after three men were killed in three separate incidents over a three-day period.
Police are asking the general public to come forth with any information on the latest homicides.
Investigations into both matters are ongoing.
