Two men were killed yesterday morning after their car overturned on a road on Acklins.

According to police, the men were driving south along Queen’s Highway in Hard Hill, Acklins shortly before 10:00 a.m. in a 2006 Toyota Scion when they lost control of the vehicle and overturned in nearby bushes.

Both men were thrown out of the car.

The Bahama Journal has learned that the men were Alfred Emmanuel, of Snug Corner and Michael, of Lovely Bay.

According to locals, Michael was a fisherman and a part-time disc jockey.

Meanwhile, Mr. Emmanuel owned a tire shop and was a mechanic.

Police say one of the men died on the scene, while the other was transported to the nearby clinic where he succumbed to his injuries.

Officers from the Department of Road Traffic went to the island to assist local policemen with the investigation.

These latest traffic fatalities come after three men were killed along Queen’s Highway in Eleuthera in traffic incidents during Holy Week.
