Primeval Forest National Park Open for Exploring This Holiday Weekend and Summer

With summer quickly coming to a close and back-to-school right around the corner, Primeval Forest National Park will be open this holiday Monday, August 4 where guided tours will be available to visitors.

As the capital of The Bahamas, New Providence is home to two-thirds of all Bahamians, which means it provides the ultimate fast-paced, non-stop hustle and bustle lifestyle that can sometimes become too much, especially for the little ones. Therefore, this summer, The Bahamas National Trust invites you and your family to get away from it all for a few hours or even a full day— with a visit to Primeval Forest National Park.

Located in the southwest portion of Nassau, the park is just south of Frank Watson Highway and is truly a gem hidden away from the rest of civiliSation, where the only noises are the birds’ chirping and wind blowing through the trees. Accessible by car, visitors are assured to fall in love with the fact that the seven-acre park is remarkably undisturbed and entering this area is like a step back into prehistoric times. With its thick, lush trees, the park is perfect for exploring and the forests supports a diverse collection of plant life, as well as various species of wild life.

Established in 2002, the Primeval Forest is a remarkable site to visit, as it will ignite your kids’ imagination with its dramatic sinkholes and unique limestone “caverns” up to 50 feet long, 30 feet wide, and in some cases 30 feet deep. Whether you live in Nassau or just planning a trip, a visit to the Primeval Forest is an excellent way to relax and discover Nassau’s natural beauty of birds, butterflies and native flora.

Patrons are urged to experience the park free on Monday, August 4 or book a tour for $5 any time after the holiday. However, entry is free for BNT members. The Primeval Forest National Park is opened every Saturday from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
