Police Shoot Gunman

A 22-year-old man who police said waved a gun at them is detained in hospital under heavy police guard after being shot by the officers on Sunday.

According to reports, around 3:30 a.m. police acting on intelligence went to a local nightclub located on Nassau Street, where they observed a group of men exiting the club.

Upon seeing the officers, one of the men ran into the club.

Police then pursued the man, who took a handgun from his waist, and threw it to another man.

The man with the firearm pointed the weapon at the police and the officers in fear of his life shot the gunman in his right leg.

The man was rushed to hospital via ambulance where he is listed in stable condition.

The 21-year-old who police said provided the gun was also arrested.

Police recovered the handgun along with a quantity of ammunition.
Harbour Island Drug Bust

Six adult men along with a juvenile male are in custody after they were arrested in Harbour Island for possession of dangerous drugs on Friday.

According to reports, shortly before 5:00 p.m., a team of officers from Harbour Island conducted an operation in the Pitt and Princess streets area that resulted in them finding a quantity of marijuana.

The six suspects were taken into custody for questioning reference to possession of dangerous drugs.
Two Jamaicans Arrested At LPIA

Two Jamaican men – ages 54 and 40 – spent the weekend behind bars after the police foiled their plans to return home with more than $11,000 believed to have been obtained through criminal activities.

The men were arrested on Thursday, for possession of a large amount of cash suspected of being derived from the proceeds of crime.

According to reports, around 12:50 p.m., Drug Enforcement Unit officers acting on intelligence conducted a search of the two men at Lynden Pindling International Airport (LPIA) and found a large amount of cash suspected of being the proceeds of crime in the suspects’ possession.

Authorities found $8,440 in the first instance and then another $3,145.

The two men, who were attempting to board a flight to Jamaica, were taken into custody and are expected to appear in court early this week to be formally arraigned.
