A man is detained in hospital under heavy police guard after being shot by police during an armed robbery Saturday evening, according to police.
According to reports around 7:30 p.m., the suspect armed with a handgun walked into a convenience store located Sea Breeze Lane and demanded cash.
The cashier followed the suspect’s orders and gave the suspect a small amount of cash from the cash register.
However, a police officer who was a customer in the store at the time intervened and confronted the suspect and ordered him to drop his weapon.
The suspect refused and pointed the weapon at the officer, police added.
“The officer in fear of his life shot the suspect once to the left side,” according to the police crime report. “Police recovered a handgun along with a quantity of ammunition and the stolen cash from the suspect. The suspect was transported to hospital, where he is detained in serious condition under heavy police guard.
Investigations are ongoing.
Police Seek Public’s Help In Two Shooting Incidents
Police are seeking the public’s assistance in solving two shooting incidents that left two men
detained in hospital over the weekend.
In the first incident, shortly after 10:00 p.m. on, police said a man was walking on Key West
Street, when a man in a white Suzuki Swift vehicle armed with a handgun shot him in the arm and chest before speeding off.
The victim was transported to hospital, where he is detained in serious condition.
In the second incident, shortly after 1:00 a.m. on Sunday, the victim and another man were driving in his Honda vehicle on Wulff Road, when they heard the sound of a gunshot.
The victim then realized that he was shot to the lower back. The victim was transported to hospital, where he is detained in stable condition.
Investigations are ongoing into both incidents.
Police Investigate Stabbing Incident
According to reports, shortly before 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, the victim was at a restaurant located on Soldier Road, when a man asked him for money. The victim refused and the man stabbed him to the side before fleeing on foot.
The victim drove to the hospital, where he is listed in stable condition.

Police Seek Public’s Help In Solving Two Armed Robberies
In the first incident, shortly after 12:30 a.m. Sunday that police officials said a woman was walking on Robinson Road, when three men armed with handguns robbed her of her handbag containing personal items before fleeing on foot.
In the second incident, shortly after 2:00 a.m. on Sunday a man was parked in his silver 2009 Honda Accord vehicle license number 228519 at a service station on Carmichael Road, when two men in a maroon Honda Accord vehicle pulled up and robbed him of his vehicle before speeding off.
Investigations are ongoing.
