Island Luck Awards 20 Scholarships

Popular web café, Island Luck awarded 20 students with scholarships to further their education starting in September.

The students received the scholarships yesterday at a ceremony at Success Training College which they will attend once the new semester begins.

President of Success Training College, Carlton Neymour said education has always proven to be an effective tool in preparing a country and its citizens to meet the requirements of the workforce.

And it’s for that reason Mr., Neymour said Island Luck should be commended.

“Your gift will have a positive impact on not just on our students but their families whom they support,” he said.

“You are providing the support necessary to prepare them for careers in business, computers, education and allied health. Moreover, you are making a meaningful contribution towards national development so we say thank you.”

Mr. Neymour added that with education comes knowledge and the skills necessary to perform competently on the job and that is just another reason why the number house company should be commended.

Island Luck CEO, Sebas Bastian said the company was more than willing to make the contribution.

“I would like to personally congratulate each and every one of you on your accomplishment,” he said.

“I hope that this is the beginning of a bright future for you all. I want you to think outside the box. When you get this degree think outside the box because we need more Bahamians to drive the economy. I hope that I will see one of you as the movers and shakers of this country and we are glad to help in this aspect of your lives.”

One of the students who received the one of the scholarships said she was thrilled that she was selected.

“I’m honoured that I have this opportunity because not everyone gets a scholarship,” the Biology major said.

“I really wasn’t in a position to pay, so I’m glad that Island Luck came forward. I wish more businesses would come forward like this so that more Bahamians could realise their dreams.”

The amounts of the scholarships were not disclosed.
