Bahamian Girl Killed In Cruise Ship

A Bahamian family is devastated after an eight year old girl was killed in a Cruise Ship docked in Miami, Florida.

Family and friends are mourning the loss of Zion Smith, as the Bahamian child killed after a tragic fall on the cruise liner while on a family vacation.

 

Miami Department of Fire-Rescue Captain Ignatious Carroll said the 8-year-old girl fell about two stories inside the Carnival Cruise Line’s Glory ship.

 

The ship had just arrived and everyone was disembarking after a week-long trip when the girl fell about 8:15 a.m.

 

A few hours later, Miami-Dade police reported the girl dead.

Miami police in a statement investigators said they were working closely with Carnival Cruise Lines personnel “to determine the details surrounding this incident.”

Carnival Cruise Lines’ Jennifer de la Cruz, the Vice President of Corporate Communications, released a statement saying ,”our most heartfelt care and concern is with the family at this very difficult time,”.

The Journal spoke with the cousin of the deceased child Elizabeth Knowles who said the family was devastated by the loss and said the immediate family including the child’s mother was heartbroken.

She also revealed that the child’s grandmother had travelled to Miami to console the child’s grieving mother.
