Police officials recorded another murder Wednesday after a man who was shot on Saturday died in hospital yesterday morning.
The shooting was one of five that occurred over the weekend.
According to reports the man was walking along Quakoo Street when the occupants of a Toyota vehicle shot him to the neck.
It was also reported that the victim had just left his relative’s funeral when he was attacked.
“We wish to confirm that a 29-yar-old man of Peter Street who was shot on Saturday past, succumbed to his injuries in hospital shortly before 8:00 a.m. and police are actively investigating this latest murder,” Superintendent Stephen Dean said.
“We can tell you that based on what has been happening, we have mounted numerous operations throughout New Providence. Thus far we have pulled in at least 50 people for various serious offences. The police will continue to assure people that their safety is of paramount importance to us.”
A video of that shooting has been making the rounds on social media sites showing a man in a purple shirt lying in the road in a pool of blood.
This death brings the murder count to 83 for the year.
Police have not confirmed if this shooting was linked to any others over the weekend, but they did say that active investigations are ongoing.
