Five Traffic Fatalites In Five Days

The man who was involved in a traffic accident in Grand Bahama Monday has died, police confirmed yesterday, marking the fifth traffic fatality recorded in the country in the past five days.

The incident occurred along East Atlantic Drive shortly after 8:00p.m. Monday.

According to police reports the man was driving a black Yamaha motorbike which collided with a 1991 Lexus driven by a woman near the junction of Tamarind Street.

He received injuries about the body and was taken to the Rand Memorial Hospital by EMS personnel.

Police reported yesterday, that the man passed away from his injuries just after 10:00 a.m. Tuesday while in the Intensive Care Unit at the Rand Memorial Hospital.

Investigations are ongoing in this matter.

This is the country’s fifth traffic fatality in less than five days.

Janero Stuart, 21, of Murphy Town, Abaco was killed in a traffic accident Saturday.

Police in Mangrove Cay, Andros were also called to the scene of a traffic accident, which claimed the lives of two men, one of whom is a police reservist

According to reports, sometime around 2:00 a.m. Saturday, the two men were riding their motorcycles south along Queen’s Highway in Swains when one of the riders collided with the rear of the other, who also had a female passenger.

Both drivers lost control of their bikes and fell to the ground. They died a short time later.

In Exuma, a 22-year-old man of Bowe Hill was driving his 1996 black Suzuki jeep east along Queen’s Highway in the vicinity of February Point Friday night when he struck a male pedestrian, who was eventually pronounced dead by the local doctor.
