Free National Movement Deputy Leader Peter Turnquest said Minister of Agriculture and Marine Resources V. Alfred Gray will not have “the last say” concerning his matter, instead Bahamians will.
“Once the police investigation is completed in a timely manner you, the Bahamian people will have the last word,” Turnquest said yesterday during a press conference in Grand Bahama hosted by the FNM.
According to recent reports, Gray said he will have “the last say” concerning his matter where he was accused of abusing his ministerial power by intervening in the judicial process concerning a case Mayaguana.
Currently, Gray is being investigated concerning these accusations and since this matter arose, members of the FNM made several calls for Gray’s resignation.
However, yesterday’s press conference presented another opportunity for members of the FNM to continue the call for the resignation of Gray and Deputy Prime Minister Philip Davis.
The leader and members of the FNM wants Gray to resign as minister of agriculture and marine resources because they claim that he breached the independence of the judiciary enshrined and protected in the country’s constitution.
Since the accusations were brought against Gray, he was relieved of his position as minister of local government.
The leader and members of the FNM are continuing the call for Davis’ resignation because they claim he made false statements to Parliament and his dereliction of duty resulted in the loss of millions of tax payers’ dollars as it relates to the BAMSI insurance scandal.
“There is no other recourse open to the PLP government,” Turnquest said. “Davis and Gray must go!
