Alleged McCartney Killers Back In Court

The four people alleged to have killed the brother of Democratic National Alliance (DNA) Leader Branville McCartney appeared in the Supreme Court for the first time this past Friday.

Kurt McCartney was killed execution style last October in Gambier Village.

His H2 Hummer SUV was found later near the area of Traveller’s Rest on West Bay Street.

In court on Friday the accused – Thorne Edwards, Lyndera Curry, Okell Farrington and Sumya Ingraham – all denied committing the offense when they appeared before Supreme Court Justice Carolita Bethel.

The Plantol Street residents also pleaded not guilty to the armed robbery charges.

According to court sources, Farrington and Knowles gave the judge individual notices of alibi.

The Bahama Journal understands however, that those notices did not contain all the information needed and the judge requested that the men turn them in when they next appear before her.

Owner of Virgo Car Rental, Terry Delancey also appeared in court and pleaded not guilty to being an accessory to the crime.

Delancey was granted $15,000 bail and is scheduled back in court on May 1.

The trial for Edwards, Curry, Farrington and Ingraham is expected to get underway on May 2.

Unlike Delancey however, they were all remanded to prison.

Following Kurt’s death, DNA Leader Branville McCartney announced that the family would give $50,000 for any information that could lead to the arrest and conviction of the suspect(s).

“This was done after discussing the situation with the police,” Mr. McCartney said at the time.

“This was not done on our own accord. We wanted to take the direction of the police and so they are aware of this reward. We know that they are doing a very fine job thus far in this investigation and again we thank them for that but we feel that someone knows and we will pay you for that information – $50,000 for the arrest and conviction and so this is to hopefully assist the police in bringing a conclusion to this matter.”

Mr. McCartney said at the time that he and Kurt were very close as he was his best friend, partner and confidant.
