The Butler-Turner and Duane sands team is coming to give the Progressive Liberal Party a knockout punch as the air is heavy with expectations of persons looking for hope  is what long island member of parliament and Free National Movement (FNM) leader hopeful Loretta Butler Turner told hundreds of supporters last night at her official campaign launch under the theme bringing the Bahamas forward together.

Shortly after 6pm yesterday evening person began to pour into Rawson Square wearing t-shirts, hats and raising signs to support the opposition leader and deputy leader position hopefuls.

Mrs. Butler Turner told the attendees they are not afraid to take the country forward and will defeat the PLP.

“I am here because I have such great support in my parliamentary team that said to me, Loretta we want you to lead us,” Mrs. Butler Turner said

“And so with the majority of us we are coming not just to make out case to the Bahamian people but to the 400 plus delegates that are going to go into convention at the end of this month.”

She furthermore stated however that she and Dr. Sands cannot do it alone

“That is why you are here, I don’t know how many of you in this audience tonight will be delegates at our convention but I do know that by next year you will be delegates in our constituency “, she said

“and you want those delegates to know which is the best team to carry out country forward so when those delegates go to mark their x’s you need to tell them that you need them to vote for the team that will vote OUT this PLP.”

The FNM leader and deputy leader position hopefuls were publicly supported at their launch by the likes of by Montague MP Richard Lightbourn, former Minister of National Security Tommy Turnquest, Central Grand Bahama MP Neko Grant and St. Anne’s MP Hubert Chipman.

She also took the time to let attendees know that her campaign launch was not one that would be a party like her opponents FNM leader Dr. Hubert Minnis as the country is ready to hear about the real issues.

“Many person’s commented on social media and asked me if I would be serving food and drink and I told them no,” she said.

“That is not what tonight is about.”

Mrs. Butler-Turner furthermore used her platform to address the state of the economy, drug enforcement laws, the help of the United States in Bahamian waters and several other topics.

“Crime is our cancer,” she stated.

“We must improve multi-lateral operations, we must save our country.”
