Wanted Suspect Charged

Just days after he was recaptured, the man allegedly behind a crime spree in Grand Bahama yesterday faced a string of charges.

Appearing before Magistrate Helen Jones, Larry Dorelus faced three counts of housebreaking and stealing, two counts each of causing damage and assault with a deadly weapon and possession of dangerous drugs and another charge of escape from lawful custody.

Dorelus, who pleaded guilty to the offenses, was sentenced to seven years at Her Majesty’s Prison (HMP).

But his charges did not end there.

Dorelus was also arraigned before Magistrate Debbie Ferguson on two counts of causing damage.

He pleaded guilty to one count and was fined $40 or six months imprisonment.

The other matter was adjourned to March 13 for trial.

The accused also pleaded guilty to the charge of causing harm and was granted $1,000 bail with two sureties.

This matter was also adjourned to March 13.

Dorelus was found last Thursday in the area of Southside, Abaco.

At the time, he had a .40 caliber firearm with one live round of ammunition, a bullet proof vest and a number of stolen items.
