Sources: ACP Hanna Resigns

Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Hulan Hanna has reportedly resigned from the Royal Bahamas Police Force (RBPF) after 36 years of service, The Bahama Journal understands.

Multiple police sources reported Tuesday that the veteran police officer tendered his resignation from the RBPF yesterday “with immediate effect.”

Reports are that ACP Hanna has resigned from his top cop post due to possible conflicts of interest with his new post as senior pastor of the Church of God of Prophecy’s (COGOP) main church.

On Sunday, Mr. Hanna who is now the senior pastor at the COGOP Meadow Street location, was promoted pastor at the church’s biggest location and main building, the East Street Tabernacle.

The announcement was made on Sunday at the final day of the COGOP annual conclave.

His pastoral promotion takes effect on April 1 and is for one year and according to church sources, is a fulltime job.

According to the RBPF’s website Mr. Hanna joined the Royal Bahamas Police Force on June 8, 1978, where he served in nine different posts including the Fire Services Branch in New Providence and Grand Bahama, the Community Relations Section, as press liaison officer and in the Office of the Assistant Commissioner – Management and Support Services.
Mr. Hanna is the recipient of the RBPF’s medal for meritorious service, and the medal for long service and good conduct.
Mr. Hanna also hosts the weekly talk show Policing Today on Love 97 FM.

Calls to Mr. Hanna, Police Commissioner Ellison Greenslade and other national security officials were not answered up to press time.
