Skyline Drive Closure Delayed

The closure of the heavily trafficked Skyline Drive has been delayed.

Several weeks ago Baha Mar officials placed several signs on the road indicating that the road would be closed to vehicular traffic on July 15.

However, when the Journal visited the site yesterday it met black covers over those signs. Motorists were still allowed to drive through the area.

Baha Mar Vice President of External Affairs Robert Sands later admitted that the road closure has been postponed.

Skyline Drive, which runs west of Prospect Ridge to West Bay Street, was expected to close as a part of the massive road works undertaken by the Baha Mar resort.

Mr. Sands did not reveal why the road closure was postponed. However, he said the resort intends to host a community meeting before the end of the month.

“We have been in consultation with quite a few community leaders on an ongoing basis. This meeting is just an extension of ongoing dialogue that we have with the community. We expect that our next community meeting will be held before the end of the month,” Mr. Roberts said.

Since the introduction of the Baha Mar development to the Cable Beach area, there have been a number of aesthetic changes to the road layout.

It is expected that whenever Skyline Drive is closed off, elaborate road works and corridors will be introduced to the area.
