Sir Jack Hayward High School in Grand Bahama has been identified as the school where some drugs was found last week and resulted in a student of that school being charged with drug possession.
Sources at the school have confirmed that since the incident security searches have increased.
On Tuesday, the Bahama Journal reported that a 17-year-old male student in Grand Bahama has been charged with drug possession.
According to police, last Wednesday shortly before 11:00 a.m., police and school officials at a high school in Grand Bahama conducted a search of a group of male students and found a package in the garbage bin near a group of boys that contained eight clear bags of suspected marijuana.
When asked by the Journal how much drugs was found, police said “it was a very small amount.”
Initially, all the students were taken into custody in connection with the matter and later released with the exception of the 17-year-old.
He is expected to appear before the juvenile panel soon.
