The issue of migration and illegal immigration took center stage at a panel discussion on “Understanding The Complexities of Migration Management ” during day four of Diplomatic Week held at the Grand Lucayan Resort in Freeport, Grand Bahama.  Immigration Minister the Hon. Sears (centre) served as a panelist for the discussion, along with Her Excellency Gezel Farrington, Ambassador-at-Large for Human Rights (photographed at left) and Ms. Zahrah Jibrilu, Project Officer, International Organization for Migration (photographed at right).  Other panelists included His Excellency Dennis Zulu, UN Resident Coordinator for The Bahamas, Bermuda, Cayman Islands, Turks & Caicos and Jamaica; His Excellency Dr. Ellison Rahming, Ambassador to the Republic of Cuba; and Mr. Crispin Hall, of the United Nations High Commission for Refugees (UNHCR).

Drug Suspects Arrested

Police on Tuesday arrested three men – ages 45, 44 and 21 years – on drug possession charges. The trio was taken into custody after police executed a search warrant on a home on Malaysia Way, Elizabeth Estates. Officers also confiscated several marijuana plants. Active police investigations continue.
