JONES RECEIVES WORLD CHAMBER OF COMMERCE BUSINESS GLOBAL HERO AWARD

The World Chamber of Commerce (WCC) last Thursday recognized  Bahamas Ambassador to the United States H.E. Wendall Jones with the WCC Global Hero Award. It was presented during the WCC Business, Regeneration and Wellbeing  Conference in Atlanta, Georgia in recognition of the Ambassador’s efforts which strengthened community affairs and for promoting prosperity in our society. The issue of migration and illegal immigration took center stage at a panel discussion on “Understanding The Complexities of Migration Management ” during day four of Diplomatic Week held at the Grand Lucayan Resort in Freeport, Grand Bahama.  Immigration Minister the Hon. Sears (centre) served as a panelist for the discussion, along with Her Excellency Gezel Farrington, Ambassador-at-Large for Human Rights (photographed at left) and Ms. Zahrah Jibrilu, Project Officer, International Organization for Migration (photographed at right).  Other panelists included His Excellency Dennis Zulu, UN Resident Coordinator for The Bahamas, Bermuda, Cayman Islands, Turks & Caicos and Jamaica; His Excellency Dr. Ellison Rahming, Ambassador to the Republic of Cuba; and Mr. Crispin Hall, of the United Nations High Commission for Refugees (UNHCR).
