TWO KILLED IN NEW PROVIDENCE SHOOTINGS THIS WEEK

Police are working to solve yet another murder in the country. On Monday, a shooting incident took place in the Wilson Tract area where 22-year- old male was killed and two other males, ages 17 and 20, were hospitalized.

In a Royal Bahamas Police Force press release, sometime around 10:30p.m., police were alerted via ShotSpotter technology to gunshots detected in the Wilson Tract area.

Upon arrival, officers discovered that three males had been shot, two of whom were already transported to hospital. The third male, clad in a grey hooded jacket, black shirt and black pants, sustained gunshot injuries to the upper body and was pronounced dead at the scene after showing no vital signs of life. 

Preliminary information suggest that a group of males were gathered in front of a residence when the occupants of a silver Japanese-model vehicle pulled up. Three males reportedly exited the vehicle, produced firearms and open fire in the direction of the group. 

The 17-year -old sustained injuries to his right lower back, while the 20-year-old victim sustained injuries to his buttocks and heir conditions remain unknown. 

In a second incident, on Wednesday, police launched an investigation into a shooting that claimed the life of a 28-year-old male in the area of Rupert Dean Lane and Dunmore Street.

According to another RBPF press release, shortly before 11:00 p.m., police were alerted to the incident and dispatched to the scene. Upon arrival, officers found an adult male, in a white shirt and grey short pants, suffering from gunshot wounds about the body. 

Medical Services at the scene, examined the victim, and confirmed that he showed no sign of life. 

The initial investigation revealed that the victim was seated outside his residence when an unknown male riding a moped approached. The suspect reported produced a firearm and discharged it in the direction of the victim, fatally wounding him, before fleeing in an unknow direction. 

Both investigations remain ongoing, making them the country’s 58th and 59th murders of the year. 

Police are appealing to member of the public for an information that may assist with these investigations.
