Murder Suspects to Appear in Court Today

Police announced that three male suspects will be arraigned in the Magistrate’s Court today at noon where they will be formally charged with three separate murders.

The first suspect is a 16-year-old male of Taylor Street, who will be charged for the murder of Steven Newland that occurred at Ida Street on April 20, 2015.

The suspect is also charged with two counts of attempted murder, three counts of armed robbery and one count of possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life.

The second suspect is a 23-year-old male of Croton Road, who will be charged in reference to the murder of British national Gary Vanhoeck that occurred at Stuarts Cove on May 1, 2015.

The suspect is also charged with possession of firearm with intent to put another in fear.

The third suspect is a 24-year-old male of Hope Gardens, who will be charged in reference to a murder that occurred at Matthew Street, Nassau Village on May 8, 2015.

Also several other suspects will appear in court today for a number of serious offences.

According to police, they will be arraigned in court at 11 a.m. and formally charged.

The suspects are:

A 19-year-old male of Pineyard Road, reference to armed robbery and receiving;
A 35-year-old male of Flint Street, reference to armed robbery;
A 21-year -old male of Dumping Ground Corner, reference to possession of unlicensed firearm and ammunition;
A 46- year- old female of Sunset Meadows off Cow Pen Road, reference to trafficking in persons;
A 37- year-old male of Poet Drive, Sea Beach Estates, reference to trafficking in persons.
An 18-year-old male of Montol Street, reference to grievous harm;
An 18-year-old male of St. Jude’s Way, Montel Heights, reference to grievous harm;
A 59- year-old male of Thurston Court, reference to vagrancy;
A 35-year-old male of Eneas Jumper Corner, reference to vagrancy;
A 40- year-old male of Mason Addition, reference to vagrancy;

Police are appealing to members of the public to come forth with any information they may have
regarding the whereabouts of a 41-year-old pilot, Ricardo “Ricky” Laing of number six Booty
Drive, Freeport, Grand Bahama.

He is wanted by Central Detective Unit officers in New Providence for questioning in reference to trafficking in persons.

Laing is a dark brown male, of a slim build, weighing about 160 – 170 pounds and about 5’ 8” in height.
