Keod Smith on Police Bail – Charged with Assaulting Fred Smith, QC

Former Progressive Liberal Party (PLP) Mount Moriah Member of Parliament Keod Smith was on Monday released from police custody on bail after he was arrested the same morning for assault.

According to Bahama Journal sources, Smith was released on $2,000 police bail in connection to an altercation he had with environmental attorney Fred Smith three months ago.

The altercation happened at Jaws Beach at Clifton on April 25 between Smith and Fred Smith QC, which turned violent, so much so that the back windshield of Fred Smith’s vehicle was smashed out and he was chased off the property.

It was also alleged that Smith, along with six or seven other men attacked Fred Smith.

Sources said it was around 10:22 Monday morning when Smith turned himself into the Cable Beach Police Station with his lawyer.

It was there that reports said he was interviewed, arrested and charged with one count each of threats of harm, damage and assault against Fred Smith.

The alleged assault was all caught on camera and posted to Youtbe.com

The video shows Keod removing a metal object from the back of Fred Smith’s car and asking him, “Why are you causing problems?”

Keod Smith is expected to appear in court later this week.

Calls to Smith went unanswered up to press time.
