State Minister for Legal Affairs Damian Gomez announced last week that Prime Minister Perry Christie has made a request for him to step down as the lead attorney for the Baha Mar court matter.
According to Mr. Gomez, Prime Minister Christie wished to prevent any appearance of collusion or cabinet involvement.
Moving forward the government has appointed British QC Peter Knox to lead the case.
According to reports, Gomez the prime minister wished to remove any vestige of Cabinet involvement and to have in court someone who is completely outside of the government.
Gomez represented the government when it sought recognition of Baha Mar’s Chapter 11 bankruptcy petition, which was filed in the U.S district of Delaware back in June.
