The Bahamas Telecommunications Corporation celebrated yet another win and solidified their
position as leading network provider. On Tuesday BTC became the recipient of four new awards
from Ookla an international agency that specializes in network intelligence and connectivity
insights.
During the award presentation ceremony Marc Penesso Ookla’s Sales Director presented BTC
awards for best fixed network, fastest fixed network, best fixed gaming experience and best
mobile experience. Penesso during his contributions expressed his excitement for the team and
their continued accomplishments. He pointed out that this was his second time in under a year
presenting awards to the organization with the first being the Ookla speed test award for best
mobile coverage in the Bahamas.
CEO of BTC Sameer Bhatti also gave remarks expressing pride in what BTC has accomplished so
far. He shared that the receipt of such prestigious awards was a direct reflection of the hard
work of staff members. Bhatti then sought to personally thank his staff saying “you represent
the entire management team here at BTC, thank you for holding me and thank you for holding
yourself accountable.” He emphasized that “these four (awards) are for you (staff)” as he
encouraged the team to continue their efforts.
Also taking place during the ceremony several technical operators received incentives and
recognition for their record high performances in the recent quarter. According to CEO Bhatti
this is one of many initiatives in place to show appreciation as these accomplishments were not
possible without the collective effort of all staff.
