Bishop Ellis Resigns International Office

After 20 years of committed and dedicated service to the Full Gospel Baptist Church Fellowship International, the Senior Pastor of Mount Tabor Full Gospel Baptist Church, Bishop Neil C. Ellis, formally resigned as second Presiding Bishop, and a member of the bishop’s council.

His resignation took effect immediately at 3:00 p.m. on Monday.

During a routine communion service held at his church in the capital on Monday evening, Bishop Ellis shared his official resignation letter to his members as he wanted them to hear the real story right from the mouth of their spiritual father.
In the letter, Bishop Ellis addressed the International Presiding Bishop Paul S. Morton, saying, “I am satisfied, after much prayer and reflection that the Holy Spirit is now leading me to bring this season of my life in the fellowship to a close,” he said.

“To the Almighty God for guiding my heart, hands and mind over the past 20 years as I have transitioned from role to role in our fellowship, I wish to express gratitude to you for allowing me to serve.”

The decision comes not too long after a move that shocked international and local Christian communities.

During the annual Full Gospel Baptist Church conference held in July in Louisville, Kentucky, Bishop Ellis pulled out of a race for the leadership of the once thriving fellowship.

The news quickly hit social media and other church websites and reactions were immediate.

Some say that they saw the bishop’s resignation coming, while others are still questioning what the real reason might have been.

“This is no shocker. I knew it would not be long before he decided to leave. God bless you man of God and be encouraged,” said Gale Allen.

I’m praying for Bishop Ellis I did see this coming. Grace and peace be unto you sir,” said Stephen Hurd.
“Be encouraged and continue to lift Jesus!”

The senior pastor reassured his congregation that new things are on the horizon, they must continue to pray and be patient.
“It’s big, it’s scary but I am convinced that it is God.”
