Almost one year to the date that a fire destroyed the male dormitory at The Bahamas Agricultural and Marine Science Institute in North Andros, officials there have announced that the demolition of the destroyed building has begun.
It was back on January 15 last year that the building was gutted by fire.
It was later uncovered that the building’s contractor had not procured the necessary all risk insurance which is a prerequisite for being awarded a government contract.
Fresh Creek, Andros resident Dave Dion Moxey has since been charged with setting that fire.
Officials estimate the rebuilding to cost around $120,000 though it is still unclear who exactly will be footing that bill.
