Baha Mar officials on Thursday finally revealed the exact date that the multi-billion dollar mega resort is set to open and added that they are now in the market to hire more than 4,000 Bahamians in time for the now scheduled December 8 opening.
According to Chief Marketing Officer Denise Godreau Baha Mar officials have assured that the majority of the hiring process will take place between August and September.
Ms. Godreau made the announcement during the hotel’s ongoing Leadership Institute Programme (LDI) which is currently grooming nearly 200 participants between the ages of 16 and 25 to become the hotel’s future employees.
“We’re celebrating the mid-point of completion for these students of our inaugural class,” she said.
“We formed the LDI to give every Bahamian the opportunity to be a part of Baha Mar, sometimes we pursue people who have college degrees and careers in hospitality but we heard that it was important to also include everyone to give an opportunity to people that don’t have a degree.”
Ms. Godreau also assured that there will be no delays in the resort’s grand opening later this year as everything is moving as scheduled.
“Everything is happening at an incredible pace and sometimes people feel that this is not going to be completed because there are a lot of things that they cannot see with their own eyes but there are electricians working, there’s bathrooms being put on, there’s fixtures, amazing designs and details that are being completed that will just have to reveal themselves,” she said.
Baha Mar will provide more that 2,000 rooms and Ms. Godreau said she is confident those rooms will be filled with guests.
“We have different hotel companies, each of them have specific marketing plans, each of them have access to millions of people in their database and they will reach out to these people, each of them will reach out to make sure that everyone in their group knows that this resort is going to open,” she said.
“We have a complete and very strong marketing plan that will position Baha Mar as a global new iconic resort that everyone must see, on top of that we’re working with the government and the Ministry of Tourism and they’re all working to support this effort. From North America, to Brazil to China, we’re going to make sure that everyone knows Baha Mar is open and everyone understands that this place is amazing, it’s a $3.5 billion investment.”
She added that guests would be able to start booking their stay at the hotel by July 1.
