Activist Charged With Incest

Serrette

Leader of the Christian People Movement (CPM) Stephen Serrett was brought before Chief Magistrate Roger Gomez to face three charges of incest.

According to court dockets, the 51-year-old had sexual intercourse with an 11-year-old that is related to him.

Police also say that between 2011 and 2012, Serrett had sexual intercourse with an eight-year-old boy, who is also related to him.

In addition, dockets say that between 2011 and 2012, Serrett aided and abetted in the two boys committing incest with each other.

The accused was not required to enter a plea to the charges.

He was instead remanded to Her Majesty’s Prisons (HMP).

He will return to court on July 16 when he will be served with a voluntary bill of indictment (VBI).

Serrett was one who was very vocal in the ‘Vote No’ campaign in January’s gambling referendum.

He also established CPM in conjunction with the Bahamas Christian Council in 2011 leading up to the 2012 general elections.

His wife, Sonia Serrett has also had her own trouble with the law.

The former attorney was jailed after she was convicted of stealing almost $100,000 from one of her clients.
