“We want to ensure that persons know the rules of preparedness so that if we’re called to activate to go into shelters that you bring food, bedding and medication because we don’t want people to think the government will just provide those things for you,” she said.
She also reminded individuals that in cases like this residents are only supposed to move if they feel that their primary place of shelter is not safe.
Also in attendance at the exhibit were representatives from different ministries as Ms.Glinton also said different factors come into play when being ready for natural disasters.
“It’s not just the NEMA staff,” Ms. Glinton said.
“We want persons to know how to build better, that’s why we had people there from Ministry of Works and Urban Development, we also have person there with healthy lifestyle as well,” she said.
Ms. Glinton added that in a situation where people are required to move swiftly they need to be able to do so and in order for this to happen they must be healthy.
