Police in New Providence are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a woman that occurred early Saturday morning.
According to reports, shortly after 1 a.m., a woman had just pulled up to her home located at Cowpen and Golden Isles Road, when a man approached her and struck her multiple times about her body with a blunt object.
The woman succumbed to her injuries on the scene.
Police are actively searching for the perpetrator who is believed to be a man known to her.
Officials have not released the identity of the victim but she is believed to be 35-year-old Rose Lourdes Anglade, mother of one.

Coroner Investigating Death of Man Shot by Police
Her Majesty’s Coroner Jeanine Weech-Gomez is currently investigating the death of an adult male suspect who was shot and killed by police during an arrest in Gamble Heights shortly after 6 a.m. on Friday.
The identification of that man is being withheld pending identification of next of kin.
All inquiries are to be directed to Jeanine Weech-Gomez at Royal Victoria Gardens.
Armed Robbery Suspects being sought by Police
Police are searching for suspects responsible for a string of armed robberies that took place over the weekend.
In the first incident, shortly after 7 p.m. on Friday a man and a woman was outside of a business establishment located on Carmichael Road, near Bacardi Road, when a man armed with a handgun approach and robbed them of their 2000 grey Honda CRV vehicle before speeding off.
In the second incident, shortly after 8:30 p.m. on Friday, a woman was walking on Prince Charles Drive, when a man armed with a handgun approached and robbed her of a small amount of cash before fleeing on foot.
In the third incident, shortly after 10 p.m. on Friday, two men were walking on Kemp Road, when four men armed with a handgun approached and robbed them of four cell phones before fleeing on foot.
In the fourth incident, shortly after midnight on Saturday, a man was sitting in his red 2015 Hyundai Elantra vehicle at Montague Ramp, when two males armed with a handgun approached and robbed him of his vehicle before speeding off.
And in the final incident, shortly before 1 a.m. on Saturday a woman was at her home located at Marine Drive, when two males armed with a handgun robbed her of a cell phone.
The two males fled the scene in a black 2002 Honda Accord.
Police are investigating all of these incidents and have reported that they have shot three suspects – one fatally – who are believed to be responsible for some, if not all of these robberies early on Sunday morning.
