Two men are fighting for their lives in hospital after being gunned down in an early morning shooting on Tuesday.
The double shooting took place through Panza Corner which is located between Market Street and Blue Hill Road.
When our team arrived on the scene, the victims had already been taken to the Princess Margaret Hospital, but pools of blood were still fresh on the road, evidence of their injuries.
Both men are listed in critical condition.
According to Police Press Liaison Officer Superintendent Stephen Dean, police received a call around 9:40 a.m. and upon arrival found two men suffering from gunshot wounds.
“Preliminary information telling us that the men were sitting among a group of other men, when a lone gunmen came and shot at them several times, the man left on foot,” he said.
“Police doing some intelligence were able to recover two firearms in the area, a hand gun and a shot gun we are still determining how these weapons are connected to this matter. We are early in our investigations and we are getting some good leads of who the possible suspects might be and we feel confident that we should bring this matter to some resolution.”
Supt. Dean said that he was unable to provide any details on who the victims were.
Over the past few days there has been a spate of shootings and murders in the capital, a situation that Supt. Dean said police are “concerned” about.
“Because of what we see in this trend over the past couple days, we’ve increased our patrols in these areas,” he added. “So we want to reassure members of the public that police will do everything we can to bring these persons into to custody.”
Police investigations continue.
