The National Training Agency hosted its second graduation yesterday evening at the Holy Trinity Activity centre in Stapledon Gardens.
The Ministry of Labour and National Insurance about a year ago on July 15th officially launched the agency.
According to Prime Minister Perry Christie the core responsibility of the national training agency is to provide skills training for the citizens of this country to enable them to take advantage of the many opportunities being created.
Mr. Christie encouraged the graduates reminding them that this training process is not one to take lightly.
“Just be the best you can be and you‘re going to find that it will take you right up to the tourism industry because you have the talent,” he said
Minister of Labour & National Insurance and Minister of the Public Service Shane Gibson also brought remarks during the graduation.
Mr. Gibson said he is impressed by the progress the agency has made in such a short period of time.
“To date, the National Training Agency has provided training for three cohorts of trainees, two in Nassau and one in Grand Bahama,” he told the graduates.
“This equates to over 800 young Bahamian adults who would have had the benefit of four weeks of behavioural transformation and 10 weeks of practical training skills.”
He urged the graduates to take advantage of the opportunities they were given as they will be the ones needed as the country’s economy grows and expands and needs skilled and productive workers.
