A man recently captured after being on the run for a double murder last year was formally arraigned yesterday in the Magistrate’s Court for that crime.
Cornelius Roberts, 24, of Hope Gardens, Nassau Village appeared before Chief Magistrate Joyanne Ferguson-Pratt Monday charged with last year’s murders of Amati Knowles, 41, and Odrick Telisma, 17.
The pair was among five people shot through Kemp Road on Whit Monday last year.
Three men, Rashad Clarke, Carlon Rolle and Sean Higgs, were also charged for the murders last year.
Roberts was also arraigned on three counts of attempted murder.
Police believe that at that time, Roberts attempted to kill Anthony Roache, Lanardo Wilson and Arlington Stubbs.
The suspect was also charged with possession of a prohibited weapon.
Police report that on the same day, being concerned with others without expressed written authority from the Licensing
Authority, did not possess a prohibited weapon, namely a Spikes Tactical .223 M.4 Rifle.
Roberts also racked up a seventh charge for possession of ammunition.
He was not required to enter a plea and was remanded to Her Majesty’s Prison.
