A 23-year-old Royal Bahamas Defence Force (RBDF) Officer was on Monday formally arraigned in a Magistrate’s Court on one count of rape of an elderly woman.

Kennedy Francis appeared before Chief Magistrate Joyanne Pratt Ferguson to answer to the charge.

It is alleged that the officer raped a 78-year-old woman on Thursday July 3, 2014.

Francis was not required to enter a plea and remanded until September 30.

The matter is expected to proceed via a Voluntary Bill of Indictment.
