Under the theme, “Character Renewed – Ready to Go”, the Auto Bodywork and Design Programme along with the Department of Social Services Urban Renewal Unit, the Ministry of Social Services Community Affairs Division, and the Fox Hill police joined forces with Michael Fox, an auto bodywork expert, to teach his art to men and women in the Elizabeth Estates community.
The programme began on January 20, 2015 and classes were held at the Elizabeth Estates Family Life Support Centre on Tuesdays and Thursdays over a six-week span.
At the opening of the programme 31 men and four women signed up. Of those who signed up, 25 completed the full course of training, four of them, females.
The programme was hands-on and was designed to give the participants an introduction to the art of auto bodywork and design.
From this introductory training, the participants showed that they gained sufficient knowledge to seek employment as auto bodywork apprentices.
At the close of this session, several of the participants were to continue with Mr. Fox in perfecting the art of auto bodywork and design and became mentors for the second group from the Fox Hill community, who would have their turn to acquire this valuable skill.
