There is reportedly labour tension at the Melia Resort as Bahama Journal sources have confirmed that at least four managers have abruptly resigned from the Cable Beach property within the last week.
Speaking on the basis of anonymity, a source told the Journal that problems at Melia have been escalating and accused the hotel at operating at a below standard level.
The Journal understands that the managers who have resigned are from the engineering, sales and convention departments.
“There is total lack of organisation at the hotel and the treatment of the staff was the overall factor in this decision,” the source said.
Earlier this year, Melia terminated a number of its employees.
The Journal contacted Baha Mar’s Vice President of Government and External Affairs Robert Sands and officials at Melia but those calls were never returned.
