A woman who was scheduled to be sentenced on Friday for killing her husband will have to wait a few more months before learning her fate.

Supreme Court Justice Vera Watkins adjourned 25-year-old Mikiko Black’s sentencing after her defence attorney Moses Bain told the court he could not proceed.

Mr. Bain explained that he did not get his client’s probation report until that morning.

He said he needed time to peruse the document and confer with his client.

Black was convicted on July 23, 2010.

An 11-woman, one-man jury found her not guilty of murdering her husband, Leonard Black.

However, they convicted her of manslaughter by means of provocation 11-1.

Anthony Delaney, the lead prosecutor in the case, told the court he was ready to proceed.

However, in the end, Justice Watkins adjourned Black’s sentencing to December 6.
