Moncur’s PI Adjourned To 2014

Political activist Rodney Moncur will have to wait until next year for his preliminary inquiry to continue.

Moncur was arraigned for committing a grossly indecent act back on April 4.

Police allege that he posted images showing Jamie Smith’s remains.

Smith died while in police custody this past February.

A preliminary inquiry is being held to determine if there is sufficient evidence in Moncur’s case to have it heard in the Supreme Court.

On Friday when Moncur appeared in Magistrate’s Court Number 2, Magistrate Constance Delancey told him that while the prosecution’s final witness was present, she could not hear the matter as there was no court reporter.

She said she was unable to write the details of the case long-hand.

The magistrate further stressed that because it is a preliminary inquiry, the details of the proceedings have to be accurate and she would not compromise that.

Moncur then told the magistrate that justice is being denied.

Magistrate Delancey said while that might be so, there is nothing she could do about the situation.

The matter has been adjourned to January 24, 2014 at 10:00a.m.
