A $4.9 million contract to complete renovation works on the remaining floors of the Ansbacher Building on Bank Lane and East Street North to fully transform it into a court complex was signed on Monday.
Deputy Prime Minister Philip Davis signed the contract on behalf of the Ministry of Works and Urban Development For Bildex Construction Company to complete the work.
“This contract completion (is for the) renovation and fit-out of the remaining floors; first, second and third, of the Ansbacher Building,” he explained.
“You would recall that previously, Arcop Architects had prepared design and construction plans on contract, for the renovation and external repairs to the Ansbacher Building. Subsequently, contracts were awarded to Sunco Builders for renovation and fit-out on the ground floor of the building to accommodate two courts, completion of roof repairs, and stripping out of the upper floors of the building.”
He also announced that an additional $200,000 for public utility service connections has also been agreed to.
He said the works are expected to be completed in one year.
Upon completion the Ansbacher Building is expected to house two criminal courts five civil courts.
