Alleged Murderer Charged

The man believed to be responsible for the gruesome slaying of a young female during a domestic dispute last week had his day in court Thursday.

Twenty seven-year-old Gibson Raphael appeared before Chief Magistrate Roger Gomez and was arraigned on one count of murder.

It is alleged that Raphael intentionally caused the death of Kidley St. Brave on July 27.

The violent incident pushed the country’s murder count to 75 for the year.

According to reports, Raphael and St. Brave got into a heated argument which escalated into a fight.

The Journal understands that both Raphael and St. Brave began hitting and slicing one another.

The victim’s throat was fatally slit during the altercation.

A closer look at Raphael’s throat area on Thursday afternoon showed a stitched slice wound measuring about 7 inches in length.

The alleged murderer, who was not represented by an attorney, was not required to enter a plea to the charge.

He was denied bail and has been placed on remand at Her Majesty’s Prison (HMP).

As Raphael exited the Nassau Street court complex yesterday, he was confronted by angry family members of his alleged victim, who shouted in Creole and English.

Raphael will remain on remand until December 4 at which time a voluntary bill of indictment (VBI) will be served.
