The Bahamas National Coalition Party (BNCP) has announced plans for its first national convention in the wake of the upcoming general election.

At a press conference on Monday, the party announced that this Thursday and Friday, its first annual convention will be held.

The convention is purposed to ratify the party’s constitution and platform, appoint a candidates committee and hold elections for party officers.

Leader of the party Wesley Campbell discussed the party’s plans as it relates to natural resources.

“Our position in respect to the natural resources of the Bahamas is in a document we put out some three years ago,” he said.

“It outlines the program the BNCP is pursuing. Unique tot h BNCP is the need for the Bahamian people to take control of the natural resources which we know are there and benefitting a small section of our population. It is also fueling the economy of the United States and Germany. The last 74 years we have been misled and deceived by our national government as to the validity and presence of natural resources in the Bahamas.”

Organizing Chairman of the arty Andrew Stewart also discussed plans the BNCP hopes to make in the near future if elected to parliament.

“The Bahamas National Coalition Party is a Political Organization that exist to contest elections in the Bahamas and to govern The Commonwealth of the Bahamas,” he said.

“The Party is established to provide a vehicle where information is disseminated throughout our society concerning all aspects of the Governance of the Bahamas. The Party will seek to agitate always for the benefits and proceeds from our natural resources to reach the smallest and least among us directly and indirectly. Critical to this, is the establishment of a Sovereign Wealth Fund, and National Sovereign Fund.”

Both Mr. Campbell and Mr. Stewart elaborated on plans to uphold the Constitution of the Commonwealth of the Bahamas in respect to the fundamental rights of its citizens, regardless of race, color, religion, age, gender, disability or social position, and hold dear the citizens right to live in a free, flexible, progressive society that adheres to the rule of law.

The BNCP stressed its commitment to structural, systemic, and fundamental change in the Commonwealth of the Bahamas.

The BNCP transitioned out of the Bahamas National Citizens Coalition.

The party champions the cause of the Bahamian people with respect to the natural resources of our nation.
