Man Charged With Shopping Centre Murder

Benson-Ismy

A Hospital Lane man was charged in court yesterday with shooting a man to death at the Westridge Shopping Plaza.

Twenty-six-year-old Benson Ismy is accused of murdering 22-year-old Jerome Davis on July 7.

Davis was the country’s 71st murder victim.

He was arraigned before Chief Magistrate Roger Gomez.

Ismy was not required to enter a plea to that charge.

However, he and another man, 21-year-old Troy Webb of Wallace Road were both charged with one count of possession of an unlicenced firearm.

Police allegedly busted the men with a 357 revolver, serial number 5727521on July 8.

Ismy and Webb were also allegedly found with two .357 bullets.

They both pleaded not guilty to those two charges.

Ismy was remanded to Her Majesty’s Prison (HMP) until November 27 for a voluntary bill of indictment.

Webb’s lawyer Tamara Taylor argued that since he was only charged with two possession counts, he should be eligible for bail.

He is expected to return to court for a bail hearing tomorrow at 1:00 p.m.
