A man is dead after he pointed a handgun at police officers on Sunday.
According to reports, shortly after 10 p.m., police received information that a group of young men were armed with firearms in front of a home located at Providence Avenue near Infant View Road.
Police upon arrival at Providence Avenue met a group of men standing in front of a home.
The men fled on seeing the police. Police gave chase and caught up with one of the men who pointed a handgun at them.
Police in defence of their lives fired at the man, fatally shooting him. The man was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police recovered a handgun that the male dropped to the ground.
Her Majesty’s Coroner Jeanine Weech-Gomez visited the scene and commenced an investigation into the incident.
