Two men are dead and another is detained in critical condition shortly after they committed an armed robbery and led police on a high-speed chase on Sunday morning.
According to reports, shortly after 5 a.m. yesterday, a man was driving in his white Honda Fit vehicle on East Street, near Robinson Road, when three men, two of whom were armed with handguns and another with a knife robbed him of his car and drove off.
Police immediately sent out an All-Points Bulletin (APB) for the vehicle.
A short while later, officers on patrol spotted the vehicle in the Robinson Road area.
A chase ensued that ended on Balfour and Claridge Roads, where the vehicle crashed into a utility pole.
Three male suspects came out of the vehicle and opened fire on police.
Police returned fire fatally shooting two of the suspects.
The other suspect was rushed to hospital, where he remains in critical condition.
Police recovered the stolen vehicle, two handguns and a knife from the scene.
Officers suspect the three males to be responsible for a number of armed robberies over the past weeks and can confirm that one of the suspects is being electronically monitored and is on bail for a serious offence.
Her Majesty’s Coroner Jeanine Weech-Gomez visited the scene and is now leading this investigation. All inquiries are to be directed to Jeanine Weech-Gomez at the Royal Victoria Gardens.

Man Hospitalized After Shooting in Abaco
Police in Abaco are investigating a shooting incident that has left a 19-year-old male in hospital.
Reports are that on Sunday shortly before 5 a.m., police received information that a male, while in the area of a business establishment situated in Dundas Town, Abaco, was shot to his right hand by a male unknown to him with a firearm.
He was taken to the Marsh Harbour Clinic by private vehicle and was seen by doctor.
He is listed in stable condition.
Two men both of Central Pines, Abaco were arrested and are assisting police with their investigation into this matter.
Police are actively investigating.
