Minister Darville welcomes dance network to Grand Bahama

Members of the Caribbean Dance Network (CDN) paid a courtesy call on the Minister for Grand Bahama, Dr. the Hon. Michael Darville, at the Ministry, Monday, June 27.

Welcoming the group led by Dr. Ann Higgins, Minister Darville said the CDN was created “with a vision to creating a ministry dedicated to praise and worship through the creative arts, and to nurture and train a growing group of local, international and intergenerational persons in the area of dance and Christian Ministry”.

CDN will host its 2nd annual dance conference under the theme, “Jubilee Dance, Children Dance” at the Grand Lucayan from June 29 to July 3, with some 200 dancers from various countries participating.

“As Minister for Grand Bahama,” he said, “I am pleased to offer my full support for this event, as it will not only serve as an outlet to empower our youth, but will also make a positive impact on the Island’s economy and tourism product.

“The Government of The Commonwealth of The Bahamas remains committed to advancing the arts and promoting the youth of our nation through its many initiatives and supporting organisations such as the Caribbean Dance Network.”

Minister Darville commended Dr. Higgins and the organisers and thanked them for choosing Grand Bahama as the destination for the event. He welcomed the visitors and said he hoped that it was their first of many visits “as we seek to further enrich and empower the youth and community of Grand Bahama”.
