A man accused of stabbing a young woman to death over the weekend was arraigned in the Magistrate’s Court yesterday.
Oman Ferguson, 33, of Munnings Drive, was charged with the murder of 22-year-old Tracy Rolle and the attempted murder of Renardo Moncur.
Ferguson, clad in a black shirt, black trousers and a floral comforter in tow stood before Chief Magistrate Roger Gomez where he was charged with murder.
It is believed that on Saturday, January 12th the suspect kicked down the door of an apartment in South Beach where he stabbed the victims multiple times about the body.
In the court room yesterday, defence attorney Stanley Rolle asked that his client not be placed in maximum security, but be placed elsewhere.
According to Ferguson, the victim has numerous ties within the prison and he fears for his safety while in prison.
The suspect also stated that he had not been fed for the day and asked if it was possible for him to get food as soon as possible.
Ferguson was not required to enter a plea on both charges and will be given a Voluntary Bill of Indictment on April 24th.
He was later remanded to Her Majesty’s Prison, where he will remain until the court date in the Supreme Court.
The January 12th murder of Tracy Rolle became the country’s fourth homicide for the year.
