Police confirmed yesterday that a 28-year-old man from Yellow Elder Gardens has been taken into custody for questioning in reference to the country’s latest slaying which occurred Sunday night.
According to police reports, the incident happened just after 10:00p.m.,Sunday along West Bay Street.
The man’s body was found inside a vehicle that crashed into bushes east of the Caves near Orange Hill.
When police responded to the scene they found the man had suffered a gunshot wound to the chest.
“Officers responded to the scene where they discovered the man suffering gunshot injuries to the chest as well as EMS personnel where they pronounced the man lifeless,” Chief Superintendent Paul Rolle , head of the Central Detective Unit (CDU) told reporters Monday.
“A short time later, officers acting on intelligence we took into custody a 28-year-old male resident of Yellow Elder Gardens who we want to have a discussion with about this homicide.”
No motive has been established about this incident nor it is known how many people were involved.
The Bahama Journal records indicate that this is the 98th murder for the year.
